RIP Prince of Darkenss

Prince been gone patrolling the neighborhood for a couple of days, which isn’t surprising, because he was gone for a week a few weeks ago.  I’d been thinking about when he might return; I was thinking it would be in the morning yesterday, as he generally doesn’t like to hang out in the snow, but as it was, we got no snow.  I threw away the black cat calendar in my office, since Tuesday will be the new year, and I’ll have to bring a new one., and was talking about his being out at lunch.

Just before 22:00 last night, some jerk hit Prince as he was crossing the street at Bohland and Cleveland.  He didn’t even have the stones to stop, and I got a call from a gaggle of pre-teens who picked him up out of the street and called me.  He was still warm when I got down to the end of the block, but he wasn’t breathing, so I knew he had gone to the happy hunting ground.  The kids, about eight or ten of them, were very nice, and said that they were sorry.  I said thanks.

We’ll miss him, he was a good cat, but he just liked being out and about more than hanging around in the house.  I think we’ll wait until Daniel and Mabel move out before we thing about getting another cat.

Jill said, he just couldn’t learn how to come home, and picked up the cat bowls in the kitchen.  I have to take Prince to the vet for a funeral.  I had better get going.
