Be late or be dead, not a good choice

Last week, on Thursday, a young girl (19) was driving her two sisters to a bridal party east of Wilmar, Minnesota when they collided head-on with a minivan while trying to pass. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune said, " Joe Mayer said his daughters were late for a bridal party in Willmar when they tried to pass another vehicle about 18:30 while traveling west on Highway 12."  Within minutes, they were all dead.  Only the driver was wearing a seatbelt.

This was the second highway fatality in the state in the New Year.  The first fatality, a guy who was driving drunk and rolled into a ditch apparently wasn’t as colorful as this story; no less tragic however.

The wedding for the girl’s brother was yesterday.

I told Jill that I guessed that, "I would rather be late, than dead."  I cannot even imaging getting into a car without wearing a seatbelt.  And, I can’t imagine that Daniel would either.
