On the road again

With the state government shut down, there wasn’t much holding me back from going to the reunion, so I packed up my stuff and headed out yesterday at 08:30.

In Wisconsin there was a little median fire that I passed just as it was getting started, and wondered what could have set it.  Then about 100 yards down the road there was a semi-tractor with the drivers side axle on the macadam.  Glad I wasn’t following that guy when his wheel fell off and went into the median.

The plan was to pickup Daniel in Chicago at the bus terminal and to head east.  Wow!  That couldn’t have worked out any better, when I got through the rush hour traffic on I-94 and pulled up in front of the terminal, I waited about 10 minutes and he appeared dragging his suitcase down the street.  Of course there were five or six texts in there about “Where are you now,” and I had to pee like a race horse, but once he got there, I ran into the terminal.

We got back into the car and made it to the Holiday Inn Express in Wauseon, Ohio about 23:00 so it was a long day of driving, but there was relatively little traffic once we got outside of Chicago.

The plan today is to take a little different route across Pennsylvania.  Done that NY Throughway and Mass Pike so many times I decided to try something a little different.
