Glad Tidings of Great Misery

So the Minnesota governor’s race is tied between Mark Dayton and Tom Emmer.  The fear is that the recount will take as long as it did for the Coleman/Franken race and that will leave Tim Pawlenty in office along with a Republican majority in both houses through the entire legislative session.  That could mean slash and burn governance for the state while they carve great gaping holes out of the state to balance the budget.  I don’t doubt that this will happen.

What makes me queasy is that Pawlenty will resign from office to pursue his Presidential aspirations, and Carol Molnau, who was kicked to the curb as the commissioner of the Department of Transportation after the I-35 bridge collapse debacle, will assume office until the recount is finished.  That development could get truly revolting.
