Welcome to Mississippi

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune ran a piece in the Sunday paper this week noting that we have a ratio of 759:1 high-school students to guidance counselors.

That ratio places us in 49th place in the nation.  A spot usually reserved for the state of Mississippi.

And if you think that’s bad, we just had an election that put the Republicans in the majority in both houses, so the pressure to cut even more services in the schools in order to balance the budget will likely only increase.

  1. Maybe if we had parents that knew how to parent, school counselors would not be in need. Parents won’t deal with their kids & push them off on school counselors. Pretty much an ongoing theme for most things regarding parenting now a days.
