Back and forth

Your helicopter is now going to cost as much as Air Force One.

John McCain, confronting President Barack Obama over the military’s procurement process, pointing specifically to an order by the Bush Administration for a fleet of 28 new presidential helicopters

The helicopter I have now seems perfectly adequate to me.  Of course, I’ve never had a helicopter before.

Obama, saying he had asked Defense Secretary Robert Gates to review the project, whose cost has ballooned to $11.2 billion from $6.1 billion

This sort of laying the blame on the current administration for leftovers from the last administration is such crap.  Glad Obama had a snappy answer for the Senator.

  1. Once again, when you only pull out a part of the statement it looks bad. If you read the complete statement, he is referring to cost overruns in the Defense Department. He was not putting blame on the current administration at all!

  2. OK, I admit that I’m a Bush Basher… What really interested me about this quote from Time magazine was how the president was able to speak in a complete sentence, even when pointing out the obvious; something his predecessor was unable to accomplish…
